Milkah- Miss Autism
My name is Milka Chebichii Arusei, and I am honored to be a contestant for Miss
Autism Kenya 2024. In my own unique way, I consider myself an advocate for autism
awareness and inclusion.
I was Born and raised in the vibrant city of Nairobi and having apraxia Autism myself,
I have witnessed the challenges faced by those with autism in our society and
especially having gone through my studies in a normal school. Something I am
entirely grateful to my parents for according an experience that opened my eyes to
the unique talents and perspectives of schooling with children who do not live with
autism. The fact that I made it in such a setting ignited a passion within me to make
a difference because I means that if I can do it, other Autistic persons can do it as
well.
I consider myself, beautiful, Bold, capable, worthy, valuable and fully supported by
my family and friends to begin this journey.
If I were to be crowned Miss Autism Kenya 2024, First, I would use the title to amplify
the voices of those with autism and advocate for their rights and opportunities.
Secondly, I would use available resources to run a civic education program to
educate members of the public on all things Autism because having interacted with
and studied with nonautistic people, I found that many people are not well informed
but are willing to learn. My goal is to launch a nationwide campaign that focuses on
education, employment, and social inclusion for individuals on the spectrum.
Through collaborative efforts with schools, businesses, and government agencies, I
aim to create programs that provide tailored education and job training for people
with autism. Additionally, I plan to work on breaking down social barriers by
promoting understanding and acceptance of autism in our society.
I envision a future where people with autism are not defined by their condition but
are celebrated for their unique abilities and contributions. With the platform of Miss
Autism Kenya, I am determined to work tirelessly towards creating a more inclusive
and supportive world for everyone on the autism spectrum.
Together, we can make a difference. Let’s embark on this adventure and transform
lives, one step at a time.
Nicolet- Miss Autism
My Name is Nicolet Ingato. I was
born on 9th July 2006 in Nairobi Kenya. My father & mother names
are Alvin Olando & Tabitha Luchesi Respectively. I’m eldest child in my
family and I have only one sibling called Rita Raizer. I’m currently a student
at Kestrel Manor School.
I’m a girl with a heart as big as
my dreams and I’m on a mission to empower girls with autism and rewrite their
narratives. My journey has been defined by resilience, compassion, and
unwavering determination.
I have faced misconceptions and stereotypes about my
condition. However, instead of letting them hold me back, I use them as fuel to
advocate for change. I believe in the power of education and awareness to break
down barriers and create a more inclusive society.
From an early age, I navigated the world through a unique lens of
embracing autism as an integral part of my identity rather than a limitation.
Despite facing societal misconceptions and challenges, my spirit has remained
unbroken, fueled by passion to make a difference.
Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the isolation and
misunderstanding experienced by girls with autism, especially those whose
families chose to confine them within the walls of their homes. Determined to
spark change, I’ve embarked on a journey to create a foundation dedicated to
empowering these girls and advocating for their rights.
This journey has been inspired by
incidents that happened in my neighborhood where a girl with autism was
impregnated by a neighbor who took advantage of her condition then later
disappeared without a trace and while others lack basic menstrual hygiene
knowledge and the necessities like sanitary towels.
Through my
foundation/organization which is yet to be launched, I aim to shatter
stereotypes and foster a community where girls with autism can thrive,
unapologetically embracing their individuality. From organizing support groups
and workshops to collaborating with experts in the field, my vision is to create
a safe space where girls with autism feel seen, heard, and valued.
I want the message to extend
beyond the confines of my community, resonating with parents and caregivers
worldwide. With unwavering determination, I seek to inspire a paradigm shift,
encouraging parents to nurture their daughters' potential rather than succumb
to fear and isolation.
Fueled by me own experiences and
guided by empathy, my journey is a testament to the transformative power of
perseverance and compassion. As I continue to trail blaze, I stand as a beacon
of hope for girls with autism everywhere, proving that with determination and
support, anything is possible.
I declare that, "We are not
defined by our differences; we are empowered by them." With boundless
courage and an unwavering commitment and support from my parents, I will
rewrite the narrative for girls with autism, one empowered step at a time.

I am very passionate about autism and people living with autism With this title; as the autism ambassador 2024, and with my experience working with children with autism and also living abroad and interacting with kids and adults living with autism, first is to create awareness to the general public about the condition and to advocate for compassion, autism being behavioral mostly, it’s hard for people to be able to tell that one has it and usually it’s because they are not aware or have enough information. The other thing is to curb the stereotypes that are associated with the condition and my favorite part is to work with the kids and adults in the spectrum to help achieve most of their goals.
