Narration

Brian Gisore Nyabuti was born and raised in kibera, Nairobi County 24 years ago. In 2017 December, he started a community based organizations called Slums going green and clean. Since the inception of the CBO, the organization has been able to impact the community positively. Most of the youth in Kibera were jobless at the time, he saw the need of leadership, engaged them on crime and drugs issues .Many parents had lost their sons and daughters through crime and drugs related cases in Kibera. He saw a gap where he could empower his peers through fighting global warming and still earn an income from waste management . A small number managing waste in a small area was initiated, But with time it has grown from 0 to 1500 households, whose waste is collected on a daily basis. There is a a team of 100 + west manager in Kibera community and a total 340 members. He has been able to initiate and run a community based organization ‘Slums Going Green and Clean “for more than 4 years without funding .Has revolutionize waste to the new Gold that people in the slums now treasure, earn from it, take it seriously .The community of Kibra is now awakening to Eco-Consciousness .He has been able to give people a living stream of ideas on how to earn from waste eg. By using their creativity, selling the waste, segregating it, recycling to other durable more useful products. Future ambitions, to create Community centers to empower the community, better, affordable access to healthcare service, a greener , more cleaner ,healthier environment with a robust population . Having been born and raised, schooled in Kibra is just in itself a wonderful experience that has shaped him to be what he is today. As a young man growing in the slum, he saw many challenge son his way to school, poor roads environmental degradation, dense population, dumpsite everywhere.
