Humming Bird Awards 2022

Narration

The evidence and impacts of climate change in Kenya are clearly visible today in the form of increase in frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. Therefore, addressing climate variability and change is fundamental for the long-term success of development and its sustainability. This is what drove me to start and also take part in conservation activities as well as tree planting and climate action activism. I have taken part in occasional clean up activities on dirty environs especially plastic infested areas and sensitization of locals on importance of clean and plastic free environment, restoration of Nairobi National Park forest cover and our recent and ongoing project is greening the arid and semi arid lands in Olkiramatian Kajiado County. I enjoy every bit of conservation activities and partner up with organizations or individuals that share similar mindset. Some of my conservation stories are in sasal.org website where I volunteer. I have also taken part in tree planting activities with Nairobi National Park, MITI alliance and attended seminars on plastic waste management. I end my conservation story by quoting the late Wangari Maathai , "if you destroy nature, nature will destroy you". Let us strive to sustainably conserve earth as it it our only home planet .
