Humming Bird Awards 2022
Narration
My name is Sonnyhalms Kimang'a, the current Mr Environment African Nazarene University 2022/2023. I was born and raised in Nairobi county. My passion towards environmental conservation activities started when I travelled upcountry for a holiday and my grandparents could assign me to do some planting in the garden including small tree seedlings and later I could weed for them so they can grow well.
I found out that I did all that work so good and with passion coming back to school we could do some clean up and tree planting activities and I could get really engaged with full energy. At the age of 10 I was crowned as a green ambassador in our school during graduation day. So during holidays I could join environmental conservation warriors to do more for our environment. We could do clean ups and plant trees with alot of organizations.
After I was done with primary education and leveled to secondary education I was elected as a general clean up community officer after I had implemented some few ways to cope up with waste management. We could do neatness inspection in our dormitories and the environment around it and my dormitory could always come 1st.
I did my KCSE in 2019 and passed with good grade and I had a chance to join Africa Nazarene University main campus in Kajiado County. This is where I started building and shaping my environmental skills to another level and towards a good conservation story behind all my passion for the environment.
